| The grounds were originally part of Rancho San Pascual Spanish land grant and is the remaining 1-1/2 acres of the Lake Vineyard Ranch. It was owned by local pioneer B.D. Wilson (Mt. Wilson) who was one of the founders of Pasadena. The house was designed by Roland E. Coate. Annie Wilson, daughter of ‘Don Benito’, was the first owner ‘Holmwood’ house, having bought the land from George S. Patton, father of WWII U.S. Army General George S. Patton, Jr. The present family has been in the house for 55 years and are descendants of one of the founders/builders of South Pasadena, Clyde Church… including the Rialto theatre block. The 19th century antiques include: 3’x5’ library table, 2 drawer desk, Eastlake--- wall shelf, side chairs w/gross grain seats, armoire w/out doors & has shelves, Empire pedestal foyer table, étagère, lg. & sm. gesso & reverse painted mirrors, 9’ English oak book/china cabinet, extra large Empire sideboard cabinet, English oval side tables, 9’ tall hall mirror w/ornately carved crest, glass ball & claw piano stool, spindle side chair, copper log bucket w/ball feet, wood trunk, etc. Other antiques include: iron light sconces, rugs—8’ x10’ & 12’x17’ Sarouk wool, wicker sofa, a historical plank table once surrounded by Annie Wilson, George Patton & possibly George, Jr., and other local pioneers of the 19th & 20th century, antique office desk, parsons table, heavily carved Asian w/rose marble tops-12” round side, 28” sq. coffee, 15” sq. table, pr.
